About | James Gregory Walsh
Welcome. I’m James Gregory Walsh—Greg, professionally—leveraging a unique background in clinical psychology and data analysis to address complex challenges in behavioral assessment, crisis response, and investigative strategy. My career began in clinical mental health and is now directed towards pursuing law enforcement roles where I can combine psychological insight with analytical precision.
My foundational experience includes over three years as a mental health specialist at McLean Hospital, within the McLean-Franciscan psychiatric unit affiliated with Harvard Medical School. In that demanding role, I conducted clinical assessments, contributed to critical risk evaluations, and collaborated within interdisciplinary teams in acute psychiatric settings. This work honed not just empathy and resilience, but also the ability to make structured, high-stakes decisions under pressure—skills directly applicable to federal and state law enforcement challenges.
Academically, I possess undergraduate and graduate-level training in applied psychology, complemented by robust statistical training. I am proficient in applying data analysis tools like SPSS, R, and Excel to translate complex data into actionable insights, particularly for behavioral risk management, investigative planning, and ensuring civic accountability.
The societal shifts highlighted during the COVID-19 pandemic, observed upon returning to Albany, New York, crystallized my professional direction. Witnessing the intersecting challenges within mental health systems and public institutions reinforced my conviction that principled, analytically-driven professionals are essential in modern law enforcement and public service. This led to the formation of my portfolio and its companion project, the Albany Aegis Initiative—a personal civic effort I developed to explore the integration of behavioral science, community safety, and operational intelligence.
My objective is to apply my interdisciplinary skill set—whether through research, field analysis, or collaboration—to serve and strengthen the institutions that protect our communities and uphold our legal and civic frameworks.
